Chapter 2 Summary (February 2, 2020)

Chapter two of the textbook reading begins the process that was discussed in the previous chapter. The research phase begins the UX process; this is the process where a person understands the business content and gains an appreciation for the key markets. That’s the definition that the book says, but the key word in the first phase of UX design is all about ‘research”. That is, taking the time to do some research on either your target audience or competitors (or both), and when you’re done with that give a rough sketch or outline of what idea you are proposing.

It’s also better to collaborate and communicate in this phase and have a business model idea (or framework) handy to maintain daily conversations with your clinch that will ensure back-and-forth discussions/healthy dialogue. the dialogue also consists of asking the right questions that should pertain to the business aspect in relation to the product and what they hope to get out of it. These questions might consist of the clients offerings, their competitors, cost, and the business infrastructure.

The research phase of the diagnosis process is also about the understanding of both your target audience and human behavior. A behavior is defined by Moule as a response to something around us. Basically, what our research shows us is that we expect a technology, app, or product has a use that makes people react or do something, like pressing a button that takes bus to a login or an internet site that lets a person go on a chastity to try and fix something. This can also be done with research, and it is in this process that a person will get feedback as to what works and what doesn’t in order for a person to move forward with their idea and learn from their actions.

Class got a head start as the teacher divided us into five or six groups; some with two people, others with three or more. My group consisted of myself, Christian Cozart, Paul Edminson, and Richard Isuikawa. We exchanged e-mails and phone numbers. Didn’t really have a chance to discuss what we’re doing, so that’s for us to figure out next class.
